At IU, how do I set or reset my vendor password for Umail?

The password or passphrase you use to access your Umail account depends on how you reach your account. You may use your Indiana University Network ID passphrase to access your account if you sign in through OneStart, https://umail.iu.edu/. However, you may also access your email (and additional, advanced features) via the vendor's portal using your vendor password.

If you have forgotten your Umail vendor password, you can reset it using your IU Network ID. Resetting your vendor password will not affect your Network ID.

To reset your vendor password:

  1. Visit https://umail.iu.edu/.

  2. To the right of the login button, click Set your Umail password here. If prompted, log into CAS using your IU Network ID.

  3. You should see a new page displaying vendor-specific password complexity requirements. Enter your new vendor password in each of the two boxes provided, and then click Set Password.

  4. A confirmation page will display that your password was successfully changed.
