At IU, what is the Active Directory Services (ADS) Domain?

The IU ADS Domain (also called ads.iu.edu) is the primary domain in the Indiana University Active Directory, driven by the Windows 2003 network operating system.

All computing services formerly provided through the IU Bloomington and IUPUI NT Domains, including access to Exchange email accounts and the Student Technology Center Windows computers, were moved to the IU Active Directory's ADS Domain in January 2002. The Central Authentication Service (CAS), and all IU web-based systems using CAS (e.g., Oncourse CL), moved to ADS authentication in February 2007.
